Why won't KieronScan detect my QR code?
Make sure the code is fully within the viewfinder and well-lit. If the code is damaged or very small, try enabling the torch and pinching to zoom in. Barcodes with heavy glare may need to be photographed at a slight angle.
Does KieronScan store my scans anywhere online?
No. Scan history is stored only on your device. KieronScan does not upload scan data to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new device?
Open KieronScan → Settings → Upgrade to Pro → tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Which barcode and QR formats are supported?
KieronScan supports QR Code, Micro QR Code, PDF417, Aztec, Data Matrix, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, ITF, and Codabar.
How do I delete my scan history?
Navigate to the History tab → tap Edit → select items and tap Delete, or use Clear All to remove every saved scan at once.
Does the app work without an internet connection?
Yes. All scanning features work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed to open URLs or look up product information from scanned content.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how KieronScan ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application available on the Apple App Store.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. KieronScan is designed to work entirely offline and on-device. We do not operate servers that receive personal information from users, and we do not sell or rent your data to any third party.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

KieronScan does not collect, transmit, or store the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any account credentials
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, serial number)
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • The contents of any barcode or QR code you scan
  • Camera images or video
  • Contacts, photos, or any other media from your device
  • Usage analytics, crash logs, or behavioral telemetry

Scan results are saved only in your device's local storage. They never leave your device unless you explicitly share them using iOS share functionality.

3. Camera Permission

KieronScan requires access to your device's camera solely to display the live camera feed for scanning barcodes and QR codes. The camera is only active when the scan screen is in the foreground.

  • We do not capture, save, or transmit camera images or video.
  • No image frames are processed outside of your device.
  • You can revoke camera access at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera; scanning functionality will be unavailable without it.

4. Local Data Storage

Your scan history and in-app preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults and on-device SQLite). This data is:

  • Never transmitted to our servers or any third-party servers.
  • Included in iCloud or iTunes device backups if you have backups enabled (controlled by iOS, not by us).
  • Permanently deleted when you uninstall KieronScan.
  • Clearable at any time from within the app under History → Clear All.

5. In-App Purchases

KieronScan offers an optional Pro upgrade processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not receive, process, or store any payment card information. All billing, receipts, and refund requests are handled by Apple.

6. Third-Party Services

KieronScan does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking libraries.

The only third-party interaction is Apple's StoreKit framework for in-app purchases, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

If a scanned QR code contains a URL and you choose to open it, you will be leaving KieronScan and the privacy practices of that external site will apply.

7. Children's Privacy

KieronScan does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because KieronScan collects no personal data from any user, it is suitable for use by all ages. Parents with questions may contact us using the Support tab.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal profile to access, export, or delete on our end.

  • Access & Portability: All your data lives on your device and is accessible to you at all times.
  • Deletion: Delete scan history in-app, or uninstall KieronScan to permanently remove all locally stored data.
  • Opt-out: No tracking is enabled by default or at any time, so there is nothing to opt out of.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of KieronScan after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
